On Thursday, June 9, a single vehicle crash on the Interstate in Lowndes County led to the death of a woman.
According to the Georgia State Patrol the accident happened on the I 75 between exits 18 and 22. Nancy Beg, aged 61 was travelling north in a 2003 Ford Explorer and for reasons unknown, she traveled off the east shoulder of the roadway. She then over corrected while trying to get back on the roadway to continue her journey and the vehicle spun counter clockwise and flipped several times,. Eventually it came to rest on its passenger side still in the northbound lane.
Although Beg was wearing a seat belt she was partially ejected from the vehicle and suffered critical injuries. She was declared dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and troopers are concentrating on why the vehicle left the roadway.
