Lake Park Man Dies in Two Vehicle Traffic Accident

On Tuesday, August 2, a man from Lake Park died in a two vehicle traffic accident.

According to Valdosta Police, the accident happened at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning in the 2000 block of East Hill Avenue at the intersection of E. Hill Avenue and Clay Road in Valdosta. A white 2010 Hyundai Accent being driven by 23 year old Evan A. Souris of Lake Park collided with a white 2006 GMC Sierra truck which hit the side door of the Hyundai.

Souris died at the scene and the driver of the truck was uninjured.

The scene was attended by police and the Valdosta Fire Department and later the Police Traffic Unit and Crime Scene Unit arrived to process the scene while the roadway was temporarily shut down but reopened early afternoon.

This is the third fatality on that road in less than a year and residents blame the intersection saying that traffic lights are needed as there is a blind spot.
