On Tuesday, October 4, two people were killed and four injured in a head on crash on the I 75 in Lowndes County.
According to the Georgia State Patrol the accident happened shortly before 5 a.m. when a Lincoln MKZ, being driven by 52 year old Kurt McColley of Brooksville, Florida, was traveling in the wrong direction in the southbound lanes of I-75. A Ford Explorer, driven by 70 year old Judy Burress of Tennessee, was traveling southbound on I-75 and there was a head on collision.
Subsequently a Chevrolet Silverado, being driven by 48 year old Bernardo Brito of Plant City, Florida, crashed into the Explorer and left the roadway.
McColley and Burress were both pronounced deceased on the scene. Brito along with three passengers, 45 year old Zweia Brito, 9 year old Gustavo Brito and 14 year old Freddie Brito all sustained minor injuries and were taken to South Georgia Medical Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
